This is a short rant post but bear with me.
We develop custom mobile apps, and one of the main apps we’re running is SeriousMD, which handles medical records and overall practice management for doctors.
As we’re always looking to improve our service, we, the founders, would regularly meet with doctors to see how we can further improve the app.
I was recently asked to go to a government hospital to demo our app. Basically, I was demoing it to the chairman but the other doctors sat in to listen.
Apparently, their IT guy was also informed and he was there to listen as well.
No biggie, I’ve done presentations in bigger stages in the past.
After the presentation, I took questions from the doctors, because that’s all that really matters to me.
After answering everything and they were happy since a couple of the doctors there were already using our app for months already, they asked their IT guy if he had questions.
That’s where this post becomes a rant.
Question 1: Ask something relevant to make you look credible.
“Is that secure?”
Since nobody asked that, I guess that makes him look smarter. I answered it and I also showed how their current system is actually vulnerable.
Once I answered that, they were all happy and I was about to go but…
Question 2: Ask something stupid.
“Meron bang… alam mo na, goodie bag?” (Will there be a, you know, a goodie bag?)
Of course, I asked what he meant and he gave a BS, stuttering explanation on what “he meant” but I clearly knew what it was and it was obviously not what he was trying to explain.
I mean, come on.
You are asking for something so you’d give your “blessing” that our system is legit. Come on.
What the fuck is wrong with people?
Sure, it’s “business” and some of you might just say to work it out with him on the side but to tell you the truth, I’d rather not.
I didn’t even follow up.
Over the next months, I’ve met some dubious companies that are actually eligible to bid for big hospital projects. I mean, come on. How can healthcare be improved with all these little shits running around?
Yeah, yeah, it’s “not just” in the Philippines. Let me rant LOL.
I’m pretty sure a lot of you already experienced something similar when dealing with bigger groups and enterprises, so I’d love to hear about it.
Sorry for the rant, I just had to let some steam out, it’s what this blog is for anyway but I hope you enjoyed the read.
